Bride + Planning – Groom = Wedding?
The bride (along with her mother, sisters, or closest friends) planning most or all of the wedding is a pretty classic scenario. Sometimes, men don’t want to be involved in the wedding planning process–and that’s totally fine. In my case, my man does, and I love it. Neither of us likes surprises (except for like birthday and Christmas gifts), so there’s no point in me trying to surprise him since he’s not into that. Plus, I want his input. It’s very valuable to me, and it’ll help make an even better wedding. After all, it is for both of us.
Matt has been involved every step of the way. He went with us when we shopped for bridesmaid dresses and found my veil and shoes. He is a part of it all, and that’s how we like it. Some have said it’d be more fun for us if I surprised him, but we both agree that it is actually more fun how we’re doing it: together.
Whether you have already gotten married or are planning to, what do you think about grooms being involved in the wedding planning? (And men, please feel free to jump in this conversation, too!)
A is for Alterations and B is for Bridal Shower
Homework and errands ended up killing any chances of posting yesterday, so here is the wedding planning update today.
I can’t believe it’s only 37 days until I marry my love!
Wedding Party
*Two of my bridesmaids had their alterations done (the other two are out-of-state).
*The same two bridesmaids also found the shoes they want to wear.
*All of the groomsmen are measured for their tuxedos.
Bride
*I had my first bridal shower! My church threw it for me. It was such a fun time and very prettily decorated. I’ll be posting pictures in the next week or two.
*The perfect jewelry and hairpiece have been found.
*I went in for my first wedding dress alteration appointment. The second one is coming up soon.
Ceremony
*We mailed out the invitations and are receiving a bunch of RSVP’s each day!
*Matt and I are still nailing out the music, but we’re almost done.
Reception
*The wedding cake appointment is another thing coming up soon. We’re very much looking forward to that.
Tomorrow is the post on fiancé involvement in the wedding planning. Please feel free to subscribe by e-mail and RSS feed and connect with me on Facebook and Twitter!
30+ Day Hiatus? What?!
My five classes have been drowning me in homework. These classes are more time-consuming than difficult, but I’ll definitely take the first over the latter! This quarter has surprised me in a good way with one class. I used to think I hate math. Well, it turns out I just hate algebra, since I’m loving Statistics. The formulas don’t make me want to bang my head against a wall, and the work is more enjoyable. There’s no stupid x and y graphing…just nice charts to make and fill out. I admire those who like algebra though. More power to you!
Anyway, short post but hopefully this has been the last hiatus I’ll take…at least until our honeymoon.
I’ve set up the Upcoming Post schedule to help keep me on track. =)
See you Wednesday, my friends!

How awesome is that? Our trip was a huge success. My BFF/maid of honor, awesome relative/wedding coordinator, mother, and fiancé (gasp! haha) came with me. Each of them helped in big ways throughout the day.
I am SO excited. So many things are done, and there aren’t too many things left to plan! Only 88 days until the special day…

Just a side note–is anyone else a huge fan of Words with Friends? I recently got hooked on it, thanks to my BFF. I love playing it! Well, as long as it doesn’t distract me from my schoolwork…
Only 111 Days!
The wedding date is rapidly approaching! Our to-do list is getting smaller, and the excitement keeps growing.
*The bouquets, corsages, boutonnières, and flower decorations are all done and ready! An amazing friend put together all of it for me, and her hard work and phenomenal talent is greatly appreciated.
*We planned a day to look for bridesmaid dresses, a veil, shoes, jewelry for my bridesmaids and me, etc. It’s coming up very soon!
*I’m thinking of posting a sneak peek picture of something, so stay tuned for that.
There are going to be so many engagement, planning, bridal/wedding shower, and wedding pictures to post after we get back from our honeymoon.
I think I’m missing an update or two, so if I am, I’ll cover it in the next post on wedding updates. I have another post in the works that should be up soon, so keep checking back!
Overdue Roundup 2.0
1. If you’ve been following my Twitter (or are my friend on Facebook), you’ll know that our honeymoon plans are finalized! We are going to Hawaii! Specifically, the island of Kauai. It is gorgeous. Everything is all set, and we are SO looking forward to it! I’m going to take lots of pictures of the place we’re staying at, the beaches, and where we explore.
2. We had our last premarital counseling session the other day. That was fun–we really enjoyed the sessions. Matt and I had talked about most of the stuff in the sessions before they even started (check out my Book Recommendation list for the books that prepared us), so they weren’t difficult at all. Our pastor is wonderful and gave us great advice and verses and helpful information.
3. The wedding party is established! We have four bridesmaids, four groomsmen, two flower girls, and a ring bearer. My dad found the perfect flower girl dresses, so we have those. So adorable! Hopefully the search for bridesmaid dresses will be successful soon. I haven’t found what I’m looking for yet. I want inexpensive, modest, turquoise ones.
4. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before, but the engagement photo shoot was rescheduled. It’ll be an outdoor shoot, happening in March. I still need to pick out my outfits for that.
5. We have more of the ceremony music picked out. I think we just have a couple more songs to choose, plus finish getting all the prelude music together. Some of the music is very pretty and sweet, and some of the music is just really fun.
That’s all for now! More is being done, but it’s under wraps at the moment.
I shall leave you with something I would LOVE for us to do at our wedding.
Five Rejected Wedding Cake Toppers
Note: None of these were actually considered for our wedding cake topper.

That one is for my mother.
And yes, it’s a total joke.
Laryngitis and Classes and Writing, Oh My!
All right, time for a super post! I’m covering three main things today, hence my post title.
I had the flu this weekend so that’s why there have been no recent updates.
On Monday I got laryngitis, but I think it’ll clear up soon. Having no voice has made things interesting. I look like a monkey playing charades when I try to communicate with my mother. Sometimes we just end up IMing on Facebook for clearer conversation. Other times I flap my arms and point to things in the hope she’d know what I’m saying. And that’s when we return to Facebook IM or just a notepad. (To her credit, she’s pretty good at understanding what I’m saying. If she’s close enough, I can whisper, and that usually works fine.)
There have also been many comments made by those around me that it’s been extremely quiet the last couple days. I can neither confirm nor deny those comments being associated with my lack of talking…
In other news, I think that if I planned my spring classes right, I should just have four classes to take in the fall–and then I can graduate with my BA! I met with my school adviser recently, and it looks as though I’m doing everything right here class schedule-wise for my major.
Another good thing is that my first goal is in progress! Yes, I am working on a book. The title and plot are 100% secret right now, but hopefully in the future, I shall be able to share more. I’m so glad to get back into writing gear. I have a huge box in the garage (plus a fat folder in my desk drawer) filled with my stories written in elementary school, and so many files of stories and poetry/lyrics on my laptop from my high school and college years.
Speaking of goals, how is everyone doing on their goals? Anything to share that way?
We Have a Wedding Date!
At Matt’s and my premarital counseling session today, our pastor confirmed the wedding date!
Drumroll, please…
June 23, 2012!
I have a feeling that things will be moving extremely fast now, especially since there’s just five months until the wedding. I am beyond excited!!
Thank you all for your continued support. It’s so appreciated! And please subscribe by e-mail or RSS feed for more updates on the wedding planning, marriage preparation, life in general, and more.
Wedding Planning Updates
1. We not only have one wedding planner/coordinator now–we have two! A couple of my family members are teaming up to do our wedding. I’m so excited!
2. We met up with our engagement/wedding photographer a few days ago, and she seems to be a perfect fit for us.
3. The ceremony plans are starting to come together. I’ll share more once it’s more put together.
4. Wedding decorations are being worked on. They’re going to be beautiful!
5. The guest list is almost finished as well. That reminds me, I need to update my wedding planning timeline…
6. Matt and I have also been working on the registry. It’s tougher than it looks!
I get the feeling I missed something, so if I remember, I’ll update it.
